Easy Stove-top Cleaning

So many of you are asking how I cleaned my stove so easily today. Not only is it shiny and streak free but all the cooked on food is off as well. Well…….it took very little scrubbing and less than 5 minutes to do it!

Here is a before and after then I will share my secret!

First I will tell you the products I used are not only all natural and non toxic they are probably much cheaper than what you are currently using. Oh and they WORK! My secret is Shaklee’s Basic H2 and Scour off! If you have heard of Shaklee you know that they are the #1 natural nutrition company in the US. I have been using them for over a year now after trying to make my own and have fallen in love with them. They work, are safe for my family, and are even cheaper than making my own. Please feel free to ask me any questions! I would love to help you free your home of toxic cleaners and save money while doing it!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Feature Friday ~ Scour Off

Welcome Friends! I am happy to have you here for another addition of Feature Friday where each week I share with you a different Shaklee product. I share with you how I have used it in my home and how it is helping my family for the better!

1

Today I am going to share with you another product from the Shaklee’s Get Clean Line. It is called Scour Off. It is an all natural scouring agent, that is very effective yet safe to use in your home and around your family. It contains no toxic or harmful ingredients and works so well! I am very interested in doing what is best and safest for my family but I also want it to work. I don’t want to say I use it only because it is safe. Today I want to share with you some of the ways I have used it in my home, these are not pictures off the internet, they are actual examples of how I have used it.

My top 3 uses for Scour off are:

1) Sink scouring

2) Stove top and oven scouring

3) Bathtub scouring (I don’t have before and after pictures of how I have used it in my shower but it is great for rust stains, soap build up, and any other scouring you made need to do in your shower and tub.)

Below is a picture of how shiny and beautiful my stainless steel sink looks after scouring it with Scour Off!

2

Don’t you just love how it shines!

Below is the bottom of my oven before and after scouring it with Scour Off! I also sprayed it with Basic H before scouring it to help loosen any baked on grime. You can learn step by step instructions as to how I cleaned my oven here.

3

Here is one great reason for your husband to love Scour Off too!

4

What a difference!

Another great example of how it can save you time in the kitchen is to use it to scour out your crockpot pan and baking dishes.

5

Some other great things I like about Scour off are:

It smells great! Unlike some scouring agents or pastes that leave you choking, Scour Off is made from cherry pits so you will never feel like you are inhaling toxic chemicals.

It is inexpensive and will last forever!

Thank you again for joining me for Feature Friday! I love to share with you how to make your home healthier and happy!

Feature Friday ~ Basic G ~ All Natural Germicide

Welcome back to Feature Friday, where each week I share with you a new Shaklee product that is changing my life and my family’s life for the better! Today I am going to share with you another product from Shaklee’s Get Clean Line. For me this is another must have for my home and family, with kids and pets in the home it is important to keep things clean and germ free, especially in the bathrooms and kitchen. I no longer have Bleach, Lysol, or any other disinfectant/germicide in my home except for Shaklee’s Basic G. A couple weeks ago I shared with you Basic H (you can find that story here), a super concentrated all purpose cleaner that does hundreds of things, the only thing it doesn’t do is kill germs, so I also have Basic G in my home for the areas I like to kill germs and keep them away.

1

Are you under the belief that just because it is sold in stores that it is safe for you, your home, your family, and also your planet?? Well think again! There is no Federal Drug Administration for cleaning products. If you are required to use bleach in the work place gloves and masks are required to do so. How many of you wear gloves and a mask to disinfect your home? I sure never did! Did you know that to dispose of unused household cleaners you need to take them to a toxic waste site? I didn’t until I found Shaklee’s all natural, safe cleaners and was trying to find out how to dispose of my old cleaners. I am not going to go on about the dangers of Bleach and other disinfectants, if you are still curious after reading this please look it up and learn more.

What I am trying to tell you is that these products ARE NOT SAFE for your family! The good news though is that there is an alternative and it is not only safe for you, your family, your home, and planet but it is all natural, and it will truly save you money in the long run. Yes you heard me right. It will save you money!

Here is what Basic G can do for you:

  • It kills up to 99% of bacteria
  • It kills 32 pathogens, while Lysol only kills 8
  • It is non-flammable, non-toxic, and biodegradable

Cleans, Disinfects, & Deodorizes in 1 easy step!

Basic G has a three year shelf life. Its residual effectiveness lasts up to three days after application. Chlorine Bleach used as a disinfectant is effective no more than one hour. Great wherever disinfectants are used!

Basic G is the most effective!

  • Keeps killing up to three days
  • Kills 44 types of bacteria, fungi, and viruses-including HIV virus
  • Use in bathrooms-toilets, garbage, diaper pails, appliances and pet areas
  • Keep in spray bottle at kitchen sink-spray counter tops, cutting boards, faucet and refrigerator handling after preparing eggs, chicken, and meats to kill Salmonella
  • Kills several animal viruses- including Canine Parvovirus and Feline Leukemia
  • Use as an air freshener
  • Safe for stainless steel and aluminum
  • Spray on carpets and vacuum to eliminate odor

Like I said earlier, it can save you money too!

1 qt. of Basic G makes over 600 16oz bottles of antibacterial Cleaner like Lysol
1 qt. of Basic G makes 454 16oz bottles of disinfectant spray like Clorox

Tough on germs! Gentle on the Earth!

The two main ways I use Basic G is in a spray bottle for my bathrooms, counters, sinks, and anywhere else I want to kill germs.

I also love to make my own disinfecting wipes! Here is my recipe for that:

What you will need to make them:

  • Paper Towel, I use Walmarts Great Value brand, it is a giant roll, and is exactly like Bounty but cheaper.
  • An air tight  container, I use a 3qt container, but whatever will hold a half roll of paper towel will work.
  • Measuring Spoons
  • 2 cup measuring cup
  • 2 cups of water
  • Basic G
  • Basic H, I add this also for extra cleaning power

2.2

What  do:

  1. Cut roll of paper towel in half. It works best if you use a sharp, non-serrated knife and saw back and forth until you have cut through the paper towel. You should have two equal halves. You only need one at a time though, save the other for later.
  2. Pull cardboard tube out of center of paper towel, this may seem strange to do before but I have found that if you don’t take it out before and get it wet it makes the towel smell skunky after a few days.
  3. Place paper towel in air tight container.
  4. In two cup measuring cup fill with 2 cups of water.
  5. Add to water, 1 teaspoons on Basic G and 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of Basic H. After you have been using Basic H for a while you will feel comfortable deciding how much works for you.
  6. Pour water and Basic H and G mixture over top of paper towels. Let sit until paper towels have completely soaked up water mixture, this should only take a few minutes.

You can use you disinfecting wipes wherever you would have used Clorox or Lysol wipes, anywhere you want to disinfect. They are great for travel too!

Linen Closet Organization

Hi! I have been MIA all week! It has just been a busy, crazy week and this is the first time I have been able to sit down and blog! I am taking a little detour on my home tour……this is still part of my home but just a closet not a room, its kind of part 2 of last weeks post about the kids bathroom, it’s  their linen closet.  There is nothing better than having organized spaces in your home. It makes you feel accomplished and productive, at least it does me. I organized this closet a couple weeks ago and it is still perfect, having the right tools for organizing helps so much! You can clean closets over and over again but until you have a PLACE for everything it isn’t going to stay the way you cleaned it for very long. So my first step was to find some bins of varying sizes……..and something to label them with.
45
Nothing fancy, just some bins I found at Target and a roll of labels and a marker. I also love clear bins so you can see what is in them and locking lids for this closet was a must because it is the kids linen closet.
Here are some pictures of what it looked like before…….
1
2
3
Not too messy but it needed a face lift!
So I put things in labeled bins…….
Hand sanitizer…….
6
Toothbrushes……yes we have a mild obsession with toothbrushes.
I keep them on hand and and wash them in the dishwasher and then the kids can have a new one whenever they want.
7
Travel Kleenexes…..
8
And a bin for all our travel soaps and creams, I keep them on hand for guests.
9
It is almost hard to believe that only a few bins can make such a huge difference, but it really does! I also understand that you can’t do everything at once, bins are expensive! So what I do is one cupboard or closet at a time. This closet cost me about $20 and 20 minutes of my time and now it is clean and much more functional. Take a look……

Bonnie’s Shower Cleaning Tip

Good morning! I am so happy to have you here! Today I am going to share a fun little cleaning tip with you, you may have seen this idea on Pinterest lately but I am going to give you my little fun tips with it. I love to go on Pinterest and find all sorts of ideas and projects and then work them into my life how they will work best for my family and my style. This is a really easy and inexpensive time saving cleaning tip, and who doesn’t need any kind of cleaning tip that will save them time? Not to mention this tip will save you MONEY! So lets get to it!

You only need three things:

1) A little scrubby brush that you can put in water and a cleaner. Like this:

1

I found mine at Target for about $3, they had some there for about $12-$15 but they weren’t any better and this was supposed to be a money savings. So I got the cheap one and you can replace the heads on it if they get worn or dirty.

2) Water……

3) Your favorite shower cleaner. Like this:

2

Any cleaner will do but here is where the difference comes in on my post. This cleaner is AMAZING! It is all natural, safe for my whole family, and a huge MONEY SAVINGS! This one bottle of cleaner has hundreds of uses and it works better than anything I have ever used! It is also super concentrated so this one 16oz bottle will last a LONG time. I have had mine for six months and I use it on everything and I still have a lot left.

So I just keep mine in my shower and when I take my shower I spend and extra minute or two and wipe things down quick before I get out. It keeps up on the soap scum and I don’t have to do a major scrub down nearly as often.

Cleaning Your Fake Flowers & Greens

Today I want to share with you a quick cleaning tip. I don’t have a lot of fake flowers and greenery but I do have a few and they are major dust collectors. After a while they just look dull and gross from too much dust. So here is a quick tip on how to safely and effectively clean them.

Step one: Decide it is time to clean your greens!

Step 2: Fill your bathtub with warm water and add your cleaning solution to the warm water. I use Shaklee’s Basic H2 all purpose cleaner. Why do I use that instead of Mr. Clean, Pine sol, or other all purpose cleaners? I use it for several reason…….first, it is all natural and safe for my family, there are NO fumes or hazardous odors. Second, it is also very cost effective! One bottle of Basic H2 super concentrate has hundreds of uses and costs pennies compared to other cleaners. And third, it works! I am not willing to sacrifice green products for effectiveness.

Step 3: Gently toss your flowers and greens into the tub and swish around in the water.

Let them sit in there for 10-15 minutes and swish around a few times throughout.

Step 4: Drain the tub and rinse your flowers and greens under warm water.

Step 5: Hang in a safe place to dry, I hung my vines from my shower head.

That is all there is to washing your flowers and greens! It was a quick and easy way to wash my greens without having to hand wash every leaf.

Day 24: Car Seat Makeover

Today one of my big projects was to clean out our van. I say this was a project because it was the biggest mess I have ever seen! It seems we have had so much rainy weather lately that I just haven’t been able to do it. So I ended up hauling a grocery bag full of garbage and a grocery bag full of other peoples belongings out of the van. I vacuumed it and wiped it down and then realized that the kids car seats were disgusting. The two older ones are now in the high back booster seats so I don’t really ever take a good look at them, they buckle themselves in and get themselves out. So I decided to take them inside and completely pull them apart and clean them!
This is what they looked like! I know, GROSS! The one on the far right even had stickers stuck all over it.
2012-10-23_11-39-34_6042012-10-23_11-39-38_6392012-10-23_11-42-15_858
So I pulled them apart and sprayed them down with my Basic H degreaser. Yes they were that bad I went straight for the degreaser!
2012-10-23_11-46-55_3342012-10-23_11-46-59_352012-10-23_11-50-22_591
As you can see on the pictures above it wasn’t just the pads that needed work, they need a good cleaning on the inside too and I  wanted to get the stickers off. I remember as a kid my dad would always get out lighter fluid if we needed to get something sticky off. Now I have Basic H, which is not only natural and non toxic it is completely safe for my family. My five year old uses it everyday to dust with and I don’t have to worry about him using a chemical cleaner.
2012-10-23_11-51-03_6082012-10-23_11-55-26_6542012-10-23_11-55-34_318
So (above) I pulled all the stickers of, wiped everything down, and sprayed the sticker spots and let them soak a little, then wiped those down too. Below is the arm rest that had the layers of stickers on it. I had to spray it down a couple times, let it soak and wiped it off, but it really came off pretty easy with no sticky residue left behind.
2012-10-23_11-55-30_634
Then I sprayed the pads down with Basic H degreaser and threw them into the wash with only a tablespoon of detergent, and then hung then to dry.

2012-10-24_08-37-46_8692012-10-24_08-58-00_510
Here they are looking like brand new! Notice the brown seat that had stickers on the arm rest and up on the head? All stickers are gone and no sticky residue. I did it all using only two products! These two products were not only safe to me the one using them to clean the seats but to my toddler who was in the house when I was doing and to my children who have to sit in these seats! If you are at all interested in these products you can find them here:
They are both safe and all natural products and the are very economical! They are highly concentrated so a little goes a long way! A 16 ounce bottle of the degreaser only costs about 13 cents to make and I only use a tablespoon of the laundry soap to wash a large load of laundry in my front load washer! Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I am happy to help. I hope you have enjoyed my get out and clean post!
