Butterfly Footprints
This past weekend my dearest friend, my older sister spent the weekend at our home with her three daughters, it was such a fun time! The cousins got to play and the sisters got to talk and drink! Also while they were here we made a stop at Hobby Lobby and picked up a few things to do some weekend crafts. We have been wanting to do that footprint butterfly craft from Pinterest since her last baby girl was born and we finally got the supplies and did it! They turned out really cute and it was a lot of fun! At first we were going to do all three girls on one long canvas but then we decided to do it on three separate ones of all different sizes depending on the girls foot size. We thought then someday they can all have their foot print picture. So this is what we did and how we did it!
First we decided which paint colors for which girl, we used two colors for each of them, you could do whatever and however you wanted to though, the possibilities are endless. So we took the first little girl, Claira, an painted her cute little piggy's the two colors we had picked. We did one foot, cleaned the paint off, and then the other foot. We figured we would have much less of a mess that way!
Here she is, what a sweet, smiley girl!
We didn’t take step by step pictures of the two little girls because we needed ALL four hands to do it!
So I do suggest help if you are going to attempt this with little ones.
Also, make sure you flip their feet around on the canvas. Put the left foot on the right side and the right foot on the left side.
Here is sweet little Grace!
Here are there cute little prints! We used one color for the bottom of their feet and one for the top half.
Notice how their feet are flipped around?? Big toes pointing out.
Here we were able to get a few more pictures, Jocelyn is 6 and a lot more cooperative and a lot less wiggly!
Gently push entire foot onto canvas, it helps to use your fingers to push down all the toes.
Here are all three cute little foot prints!
Now let the prints completely dry. We used acrylic paints which seem to dry pretty quickly. The next step after they were completely dry was to pencil in the butterflies bodies. This part is free hand, however you want the bodies to look. If you look at all three we did each one is a little different. Just make sure they aren’t too tiny if you want to draw on a face. If you draw real light you can even erase the pencil if you make mistakes. Then we took a black paint pen and traced over the pencil marks and drew on smiley faces.
Here are all three complete! Aren’t they adorable?!?!
It was such a fun yet easy project for any little girls room, I hope you have enjoyed it!
Thanks to my three beautiful nieces for cooperating for all the pictures!
Here is a materials list for this project:
Acrylic paint (your choice of colors)
Brushes
Canvas('s)
Black Paint Pen
Cute little feet!

Craft Cabinet Organization
Please tell me I am not the only one who can’t seem to keep things in order in their craft cabinet? I have been trying for years to get this organized right! I think I have finally done it! I suppose it does help too that the kids are a little older and can help me, but let me tell you it has been an on going struggle. I actually had fun doing this project, there is something satisfying about getting something organized. I am just going to share with you a before and after and a few tips on how to get your craft supplies neat and functional.
Here is basically what it looked like before I started, not too bad but definitely could use some work.
I mostly have things in bins, but they were the wrong size. We had way too much of a lot of things, so part of my reorganization was to downsize.
One tip is to label everything! Not only do you know where things go but the kids can learn to put them where they go as they learn to read also.
Then there is never any question as to exactly where things go.
Another tip is to put everything in clear easy to see through containers, that way everyone can see exactly where they go,
especially the littler one who can’t read yet.
Also, keep like things together. Example, school or learning items, coloring books, painting supplies……….and so on.
Below are all of our learning activity books, flash cards, and educational games.
Below are all of our painting supplies, coloring books, and paper.
Below are all of our markers, crayons, colored pencils, and stickers.
And on the last piece of shelf I have all my things, envelopes, and a drawer container with pens, pencils, and other writing supplies.
I also labeled each drawer so we know what goes where.
Organizing the pens and pencils was quite a project also:
Before…..
After………!
I had to ask myself……did we seriously need all those pens and pencils? I think this is a little more acceptable!
So in a nut shell this is how I organized our craft area, and let me tell you by downsizing and little extras like see through containers make such a difference. Share with us your best craft room/cabinet organizing tip!

Fun Craft to do with a Toddler
One day last week my son and I were bored so we decided to go shopping! We just recently got a Hobby Lobby in our town and I have been in there several times now and I am totally in love with that store! Between Hobby Lobby and Pinterest, I am in trouble! So I checked out some things I have been wanting to make for a while now and I found this cute art project for my son and I to do. It was really easy and you could do it with almost any saying you want. We chose to do this saying ~ Please Excuse Our Mess We Are Busy Making Memories~. How sweet! So I went to Hobby Lobby and found a canvas to put it on and some adhesive letters and came home and got started.
Now seeing as I have never done this I made one small mistake, I got letters that weren’t sticky enough so when my son painted the paint bled under the letters. Not a huge deal, I will show you how I fixed it. I was worried that if they were too sticky they wouldn’t come off though, so I guess it is just going to be trial and error. So this is totally easy and anyone can do it. You can just randomly put the stickers on your canvas or if you are ridiculously picky, like me, you can get your tape measure out and figure it all out exactly. Totally up to you how picky and perfect you want it to be.
If you look close at the picture above you can see all my lines so I had everything straight and even. Then I just started sticking them on, I even flipped the canvas over and rubbed from the back on the table to try getting them to stick a little better.
This is what it looked like before painting:
Cute!
Next I let my 20 month old son loose with some paints. He started out with a brush……………
but quickly found that it was much more fun doing it with his fingers!
After my boy had fun painting I let it dry for several hours and then pulled off the stickers. That’s when I realized that the stickers weren’t quite sticky enough an paint had gotten underneath them . I have a white paint pen so I just took that and painted over the spots a few times that had bled and this is what we now have!
Just something fun and cute! The baby had fun painting for his first time too! You could do it in any color scheme to match a room or any saying for that matter, whatever your imagination comes up with. Follow me on Facebook so you never miss a new post!

Thanksgiving Tree
Here is a fun project to do with the family this Thanksgiving season. I got this idea from a dear friend of mine and thought it was such a great idea my kids and I had to make one too. We made a Thanksgiving Tree! It was very easy to do and has really brought out the meaning of this holiday season for my children. I want to teach my children to be thankful for the things they have, even the little things. This has made them really evaluate and focus on the many wonderful things in their lives. They are young yet but it is really great for all ages.
All we did is go out into the woods and found some tree branches and cut off the sizes we wanted, about 8 of them. We took them off of an Oak Tree in our backyard, any tree will do except an evergreen. You can make your tree as big or as small as you want, we made ours quite large but it still fits on the dining room table. I then stuck the braches in the heaviest vase I had and then weighted it down with rocks in the vase and around the branches. This made it pretty heavy and it hasn’t tipped over yet.
Then each day we cut out a leaf from a piece of construction paper and punch a hole in it and write on one side something we are thankful for and our name on the other side. Even my husband and I are making a leaf each day!
This has been such a fun project and is teaching my children to look for the value in each and every day.
Please share with us in the comment box below how your family learns to be thankful this time of year, I am excited to hear your story!

Day 3: Organizing for School
The first important step is to have an action plan! I created a mini chore list for both children of what is expected of them each morning. I found this really cute idea on Pinterest (of coarse)! They can flip up each item after it is accomplished, they find it fun and it helps keep them focused.
The next step is to have a “Base of Operations”! This is where I keep everything in order. The best place for this is where all the coming and going traffic happens. For us that is right in the kitchen and by the mud room. I turned a small wall in my kitchen into our “Base”. On this wall we have a calendar for keeping track of family activities and birthdays. We also have a file folder hanging on the wall for each child and a few extras. Here is what this may look like:
We also keep the lunch menu and daily activity lists for each child here.
Here are the file folder, we use these to organize book orders, library books, and any other miscellaneous papers that come home for each child. It is also where we keep all contact information for the school and teachers.
Filing system---------------->
This way everything is in one place!
The other organization tip that I would like to share with you has to do with the mountains of papers that they come home with each day. I put items that have to be returned to school in their file folders and all the work sheets that they come home with I take a 3 ring punch to and stick them in a 3 ring binder. This way all these papers are not floating around my kitchen and they can look back throughout the year and see what they have accomplished! I have one binder for each child, for each grade.
I hope these tips are helpful! I would love to hear your feedback, please leave a comment below! Have a great day! Bonnie
