Please tell me I am not the only one who can’t seem to keep things in order in their craft cabinet? I have been trying for years to get this organized right! I think I have finally done it! I suppose it does help too that the kids are a little older and can help me, but let me tell you it has been an on going struggle. I actually had fun doing this project, there is something satisfying about getting something organized. I am just going to share with you a before and after and a few tips on how to get your craft supplies neat and functional.
Here is basically what it looked like before I started, not too bad but definitely could use some work.
I mostly have things in bins, but they were the wrong size. We had way too much of a lot of things, so part of my reorganization was to downsize.
One tip is to label everything! Not only do you know where things go but the kids can learn to put them where they go as they learn to read also.
Then there is never any question as to exactly where things go.
Another tip is to put everything in clear easy to see through containers, that way everyone can see exactly where they go,
especially the littler one who can’t read yet.
Also, keep like things together. Example, school or learning items, coloring books, painting supplies……….and so on.
Below are all of our learning activity books, flash cards, and educational games.
Below are all of our painting supplies, coloring books, and paper.
Below are all of our markers, crayons, colored pencils, and stickers.
And on the last piece of shelf I have all my things, envelopes, and a drawer container with pens, pencils, and other writing supplies.
I also labeled each drawer so we know what goes where.
Organizing the pens and pencils was quite a project also:
Before…..
After………!
I had to ask myself……did we seriously need all those pens and pencils? I think this is a little more acceptable!
So in a nut shell this is how I organized our craft area, and let me tell you by downsizing and little extras like see through containers make such a difference. Share with us your best craft room/cabinet organizing tip!
